  • Report on In Bound and Out Bound

Stewart Goldsberry's daughter will be the next short term out bound student. Cita Strauss will be resigning from the chair and will be talking to Stewart about coordinating the program while his daughter is involved. The coordination role may become a function of the out bound student's family in the future.
Cita Strauss was looking for information on past out bound students to fill a gap in our club's historical records. She has been involved in the efforts to organize our clubs historical documents and is trying to close this data gap.
New Generations Report:           Brandon Elliot
  • Report Rotaract and Interact
The Interact Club will be attending the Building Bridges to Careers conference on Oct. 2nd.
Rotoract club at OU did not get registered this semester due to lack of interest. Discussion was had concerning dropping Rotoract altogether at OU and potentially organizing it under our club. This would be a way to bring young people into the club at a reduced meeting cost while engaging them in our volunteer activities and opening potential career building contacts. Emilia Samerio will also pursue discussions with other youth focused organizations, such as YAP (Young Athens Professionals), to see if there is a way forward together.
  • Report on any volunteer hours
President Comments:                Michael Noel
  • District Conference was attended by Michael Noel, Emilia Alonso Samerio, Jackie Collins and Ed Peterson. All presentations were covered. Several clubs donated walkers and crutches and we were able to completely fill Mike Noel's truck with the donated items.
President Elect Comments:        Brandon Elliot
  • Brandon Elliott will not be able to attend the next International Conference in Toronto. He recommended that the club funds be allocated to support another attendee.
 Past-President Comments:        Emilia Alonso Samerio
  • Discussion on 2019 President and who we should ask.
Emilia Samerio will be approaching several members to evaluate their interest in assuming the President Elect position. Since the president elect is the board member that should attend the conference determining who will be filling that role after Brandon Elliott is critical. Names suggested included: Tom Gibbs, Tom Pyle and Tara Gilts Bob Rymer and Michelle Wilson. Emilia Samerio will discuss with Michelle Wilson the possibility of coming on the board as a committee chair or an at-large member.
  • Discussion on District Visitation Committee on membership.
Emilia Samerio will be scheduling a review with the District Visitation Committee with the intent to form a 3-5 membership plan. Mike Noel stated that the committee has been helpful to other clubs.
Announcement of next meeting: October 4, 2017  11:00 AM
Motion to adjourn at 12:45 pm by Emilia Samerio.
Thank you for your service to the Athens Rotary Club!
